Oil Screening

Density (API Gravity) measurements

The purpose of carrying out density measurements is to determine the density of the whole (untopped) fluid. This also allows for the API Gravity (°) of the fluid to be measured.

API Gravity (°) = 141.5 / Density (g/cm3) - 131.5

The instrument applied at APT for density measurements is a Anton Parr DMA 48, which is calibrated against air and distilled water

Iatroscan - Obtain quantitative information on the bulk group composition of oils and rock extracts.
